The Pattambi Nercha is an annual feast celebrated at the Pattambi Mosque
in the Palakkad district of Kerala. This grand event, held in memory of
Aloor Valiya Pookunjikoya Thangal, a revered Muslim saint from the
Malabar region, transforms the entire town of Pattambi into a vibrant
spectacle of colors, lights, and sounds. The festival is a significant
cultural and religious event that draws thousands of devotees and
visitors from various parts of the state.
Held every year, the
Pattambi Nercha is marked by a series of elaborate rituals and
festivities. The highlight of the festival is a colorful procession that
features caparisoned elephants, decorated floats, and traditional
musical ensembles such as the Panchavadyam and Thayambaka. The
procession winds through the town, creating a festive atmosphere with
its lively and rhythmic beats.
The town of Pattambi, located about 55 kilometers from Palakkad, comes alive during the festival with beautiful decorations.
