National Park Service Founders Day
August 25, 2025-August 25, 2025 -
USA, USA
National Park Service Founders Day began in 1916 when President Woodrow Wilson signed the act that created the National Park Service.
This significant event marked the official start of a dedicated agency responsible for protecting and managing the nation’s national parks.
Before this, many parks existed, but there wasn’t a unified organization to oversee their care. The establishment of the National Park Service provided the structure and commitment needed to preserve these incredible natural and historical sites for future generations.
The day was created to honor the visionaries who believed in the importance of conserving America’s most stunning landscapes and culturally significant sites. These early conservationists recognized the need to protect these areas from overuse and destruction.
They wanted to ensure that everyone from all walks of life, could experience the beauty and history of these special places.
