National Check The Chip Day is quite the tale, starting way back in 1985 when a clever bunch in California thought, “Hey, let’s microchip our furry friends!” Fast forward four years, and the UK is on board, making pet-tracking much easier.
This tiny tech took off, and by 2016, the UK said, “It’s a must!” making sure every pet pal had their little ID under their fur.
But why August 15th, you ask? Well, it seems this special day snuck onto our calendars as a sneaky reminder for all pet parents to double-check their pet’s microchip information—you know, just in case Fido decides to go on an unexpected adventure.
Chips must stay up-to-date to do their magic, including reuniting lost pets with their humans.
